RAF Skitten Squadrons
Skitten saw a range of squadrons come and go at various points of the war. The airfield was utilised for everything from operational sorties to top secret, high-impact operations destined to help change the course of the war. In addition to Britain’s Royal Air Force and 804 Naval Air Squadron (804 NAS) which was a Naval Air Squadron of the Royal Navy, 404 and 407 Squadrons of the The Royal Canadian Air Force and 489 Squadron of the Royal New Zealand Air Force were also stationed here.
